Job Posting: Loan Counsellor
Internationally Trained Worker (ITW) Loan Program
A partnership project of WIL Employment Connections, the Access Centre for Regulated
Employment provides customized licensure and career development assistance,
employment information and referral services to internationally trained professionals
seeking licensure or trade certification in one of the provinces regulated professions or
trades. We are currently inviting applications for a full time Loan Counsellor for the ITW
Loan Program.
Reporting to the Project Manager, the ITW Loan Counsellor is responsible for assisting
internationally trained professionals to access the funds necessary to achieve credential
recognition and employment commensurate with skills, education and experience.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Provide services one to one and in group format
• Develop personalized work plans for clients seeking licensure/certification or an
industry credential and employment in regulated, non-regulated professions and
trades in Ontario
• Assist ITW’s with the preparation and submission of loan applications and ensure
mandatory components are met
• Identify and refer clientele to appropriate community resources to assist individuals in
meeting their goals
• Participate in data management and report preparation
• Maintain client tracker records, follow-up, and deliver contracted reports
• Develop and implement ITW program outreach strategy to establish strong referral
relationships with local and regional stakeholders and identify Internationally Trained
Workers (ITW’s) who may be eligible for the loan program
• Set and achieve targets
• Create and manage social media communities, content and analytics across multiple
platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, LinkedIn and other channels, to
extend our reach, engagement and impact
• Maintain brand standards on-line and monitor and report on metrics
• Facilitate loan program information sessions throughout Southwestern Ontario
• Support the ITW loan program team in maintaining a comprehensive inventory of the
education, skills and experiences of participating ITW’s
The Successful Candidate will possess:
 Post-secondary education with emphasis in human services and/or employment
counselling/advising
 Proven experience in recruiting new clients, building business
 Demonstrated evidence of developing outreach and communication strategies
 Knowledge or relevant experience with Personal Finance and Money Management
Basics.
 Excellent interpersonal, presentation, verbal and written communication skills
 Advanced knowledge of social media tools and strategies
 Proficient in the use of databases, word processing, spreadsheets and presentation
software
 Demonstrated knowledge of the local and regional labour market.
 Demonstrated knowledge of local and regional employment, education and training
resources available for internationally trained individuals.
 Access to a car and willingness to travel throughout Southwestern Ontario.
