Welcome to our Newest Volunteers

We are excited to welcome two new volunteers to the Pillar team! Sara and Ruiqi will be supporting VERGE and Innovation Works.

Meet Sara Dhurjon:

I am entering into my third year at Western University where I will be continuing with my degree in the School for Advanced Studies in the Arts and Humanities, English Language and Literature and Transitional Justice and Post-Conflict Reconstruction. As a student in the Arts and Social Sciences, I am interested in the various ways we as individuals impact the world around us through our work and relationships. I believe that such impact can only be maximized when we work together, and as such, I am excited to enter into my role as the Communications Assistant Intern for the summer. By working with the Pillar Nonprofit Network team, I hope to further their mission of community growth and betterment through social enterprise initiatives while simultaneously growing as an informed citizen who is better able to impact her community through volunteerism and other forms of engagement. Aside from my work with Pillar, I am a cosmetics enthusiast and I enjoy expressing myself through makeup artistry.

Meet Ruiqi Sha:

I’m a third year undergraduate student studying for an Honors Specialization in Finance under the Management and Organizational Studies program at the University of Western Ontario. I intend to do another degree in French studies once I complete my finance degree. I’m interested in financial portfolio analysis because a lot of the time we can make assumptions based on the numbers we analyze. I think VERGE Capital is a great place for me to start handling real world data and it is also a place where I can meet lots of experienced people and make new friends. This summer will be fun! I like playing piano in my spare time and most pieces I play are from Richard Clayderman, who is a very famous pianist from France. I’ve been playing the “Castle in the Sky” theme song for eight years. I like travelling around when I have time and the most impressive experience I had was to travel to Ottawa and visit all the attractions by walking.
