The Volunteer’s Role

 

Cuso International Jamaica Office is seeking an Enterprise Development Advisor to support the growth of the Rose Town Foundation and the Joy Town Foundation which are based in inner-city communities in Jamaica and to contribute towards implementation of community programming related to entrepreneur development and sustainable farming. As the Enterprise Development Advisor, you will support both the Rose Town and Joy Town Foundations in developing a sustainable business model for its community enterprises, which will in the long run be an income generating project and reducing high levels of unemployment and poverty in these poor and marginalized communities.

 

As a volunteer, you will:

-Establish Management support for all enterprises

-Provide skills training relevant to each enterprise for community members

-Support in ensuring quality control, marketing and sales/promotion mechanisms for all enterprises

-Develop 2-year business plan for each enterprise, culminating in sustainable operations

-Conduct feasibility study for Joy Town Foundation and implement operational mechanisms as mentioned above


Essential Academic Qualifications:

- Degree or Diploma in Business Management, Commerce or related field


Essential Professional Background:

- Experience working with inner-city community based organizations and NGOs

-Experience developing enterprise models for communities

- At least one year of experience developing assessment tools and/or training materials

- Experience with enterprise development and entrepreneurship training
