Two years ago Michelle Baldwin, Pillar’s Executive Director started to consider the possibility of a fellowship that would allow her to step outside her Executive Director role for several months and document the origin stories of Pillar Nonprofit Network, Innovation Works, and VERGE Capital. From March to August of 2019 Michelle engaged in a Reflective Practice and Research Fellowship of her own design.
You might read this and think, “There is no way I could step away from my organization,” or, ‘We can’t all take those kinds of risks in the nonprofit sector.” This workshop is an opportunity to explore what is possible. Michelle’s experience is just one example of what conscious and strategic leadership development can look like. What could it look like for you?

Connect with nonprofit sector senior leaders and explore ideas and opportunities to help sustain leaders in their roles, particularly for those who have led an organization for an extended period of time.

ABOUT THE PRESENTERS:
Janet Frood, CPCC, PCC, ORSCC, DTLCF
Janet Frood the Founder and President of Horizon Leadership Institute. As an executive, leadership and team coach, she partners with clients to build the human capacity of organizations and create high functioning teams.. Her strength is helping leaders articulate a clear noble purpose and create a compelling plan to move towards it with courage. She is also training to be a Nature and Forest Therapy Guide and is integrating nature based practices into her work with leaders and teams. As a former Executive Director of a hospital foundation, Janet understands the loneliness of leadership and how practices for building resilience and ongoing learning and growth are vital for executive leaders to stay engaged, creative and effective in their roles.
Michelle Baldwin is Executive Director of Pillar Nonprofit Network and helped to co-create Innovation Works and VERGE Capital in London, Ontario. As a social innovator whose personal mission is to be a community connector, Michelle is passionate about connecting people and organizations. Michelle is a firm believer that nonprofits are integral to our community and that business, government and nonprofit sectors must work collaboratively to strengthen it. She has extensive experience in nonprofit management, social enterprise, social innovation, social finance, communications and fundraising. Michelle Baldwin is currently on a Reflective Practice and Research Fellowship from March 1 - August 31, 2019 and will return to her full-time role as Executive Director on September 1.
