The Other Streetscape Fight: Ridout Block Restoration

ACO London / LMHS Joint Speaker Night
The Other Streetscape Fight: Ridout Block Restoration
In the mid-1960s, a group of Londoners took a stand on the conservation of the Ridout Streetscape threatened by construction of the Queens Ave Bridge. In the process, ACO London was founded and the buildings were designated a National Historic Site soon after.
What makes this heritage streetscape so important and why were so many people ready to fight for it? Join historian and author Mike Baker for an illustrated talk on how this block was not only saved but how it launched the modern heritage conservation movement in London.
Please arrive by 7:30pm as there is no access to the building once meetings begin.
FREE, everyone is welcome - bring a friend or three! Co-hosted by London and Middlesex Historical Society.
