Tree Specialist Training: Session 2 – Tree ID Hike

Thursday May 11, 2017 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm

Training includes an overview of Tree Specialists duties, common planting mistakes, choosing the right tree, and tree identification skills.

Purpose: Tree Specialists (formerly Tree Guru) are knowledgeable about planting and caring for trees and help out at planting and aftercare events, tree depots and tree blitzes.

We want you to become a go-to person as our Tree Specialist at events, and this training will prepare you for that role.

Contents: Training includes an overview of Tree Specialists duties, common planting mistakes, choosing the right tree, and tree identification skills.

What to Bring: Please dress for the weather, hike takes place rain or shine. Bring water bottle, and wear boots/hiking shoes.

Prerequisite: You must take the following training listed below, before taking the Tree ID Hike training:

1. ReForest London Orientation

Offered on Saturday April 1st, Tuesday April 11th or Tuesday May 9th - only sign up for one of these dates.

2. Tree Specialist Training Session 1: In-Class

Offered on Tuesday April 18th from 6pm-8pm or Thursday May 4th from 6pm-8pm - only sign up for one of these dates

Training Location: ReForest London Offices, 944 Western Counties Road, London Ontario, N6C 6A9.

Time Commitment:

· Training Session 1: Is a 2 hour classroom training session

· Training Session 2: Tree ID Hike is a 2 hour Tree Identification Hike at Westminster Ponds (please dress for the weather)

· Online Quiz – to be completed after training sessions.

· Must attend four shifts a year (or more).
