Educational Assistant

Essential Job Functions:

The candidate will work in a culturally sensitive environment and assist with the instruction of individual learners or small groups.

  • Provide instruction and educational support both in-person and online
  • Participate in case conferencing with the Literacy Coordinator to determine suitable learning activities for individualized education plans
  • Record and report learner progress
  • Contact learners directly to schedule appoints and ensure student engagement
  • Update and maintain an archive of curriculum and content materials as needed in consultation with the team
  • Use and develop skills in communications technology for the purpose of remote learning

Educational and Experiential Requirements:

Post-secondary education

  • Teaching or tutoring experience
  • Some familiarity with task-based instruction, GED and Secondary School Credits
  • De-escalation and conflict resolution skills
  • Awareness of Safe Space and Trauma-Informed Practice
