ATLOHSA FAMILY HEALING SERVICESis seeking a knowledgeable and well-balanced individual to fulfill the role ofHOLISTIC WELLNESS COORDINATOR.

This new position will ensure that culture and cultural interventions are fluid throughout; and at the foundation of Atlohsa’s holistic continuum of care program and service model. Drawing from theFirst Nations Mental Wellness ContinuumNational framework, the Holistic Wellness Coordinator will ensure Atlohsa community members, staff and leadership have access to cultural interventions and cultural program supports relevant to the customs and practices of the local Anishinabe, Haudenosaunee and Lenape people. The coordinator will be responsible for implementation of the First Nations Mental Wellness Continuum framework, cultural knowledge translation though out the organization, accessing cultural supports and land-based opportunities and  ensuring the utilization of the Native Wellness Assessment tool amongst the population served by Atlohsa.

Basic Requirements:

TheHolistic Wellness Coordinatormust possess a minimum of 4 years of experience assisting and working directly with and/or receiving mentorship from either a specific individual, or various individual Elders/Healers/Knowledge Keepers and demonstrate the ability to translate Indigenous knowledge.

 

Knowledge:

Demonstrated knowledge, awareness and understanding of the creation stories, cultures, languages, history and healing practices of the Anishinabe, Haudenosaunee and Lenape people coupled with formal western education at a post-secondary level.

 

Ability:

•             Ability to speak and understand an Anishinabe, Haudenosaunee or Lenape language at an introductory level

•             Demonstrated reputable lifeway practices of Anishinabe, Haudenosaunee or Lenape

•             Proficient, excellent communication abilities (oral and written) will be required

•             Ability to quickly establish relationships with others by earning trust and maintaining effective communication

 

Personal Suitability:

 A clear and current vulnerable sector check and a valid Ontario Driver’s License. Applicants of Indigenous ancestry preferred.

 

EMPLOYEMENT TERM: Full-time, 40 hours/week, Two Years                      

REMUNERATION:Competitive compensation and benefits package based on qualifications
