Support Services Specialist

Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada is a national not-for-profit organization dedicated to reaching every Canadian affected by a brain tumour through support, education, information and research.

As one of our Support Services Specialists reporting to the Information and Support Services Manager, you will contribute to the long-term success of the foundation’s engagement with the brain tumour community by overseeing our Support Services Program. Responsibilities include our national support group program, one to one supports and young adult programming.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to;

• Along with the Information and Support Services Manager and programs team, the development of the annual work plan and budget
• Oversight of the foundation’s national support group program
• Development of strategies and ways to strengthen the support group program as outlined in the work plan
• Creation of new support group programs as required
• Provision of telephone and online support to those affected by brain tumours
• Planning, recruitment of speakers and implementation of educational webinars and conferences as noted in the annual workplan
• Growing the engagement of the brain tumour community through collaboration with community partners
• Ongoing support of support group volunteers through ongoing communications, supports and training
• Work with the Human Relations team to recruit, train and recognize volunteers involved in all support group programs.


• University Degree or College diploma in Social Sciences, Counselling or Social Work or related discipline.
• 3-5 years of experience with group facilitation and working with vulnerable populations
• Work within a support group setting considered a definite asset for this role
• Proven experience in community development and building supportive networks
• Superior presentation and communication skills
• Previous volunteer management and event management experience is preferred.
• A positive attitude is a must along with the ability to work independently in a virtual
• Vulnerable screening check required
• A valid driver’s license and the ability to travel
• Double vaccination against COVID-19 is required
• The ability to work evenings and weekends when necessary.
