Position Description

Program: Learn to Learn Differently Program

 We are looking for fun and outgoing individuals who are interested in volunteering their time to lead groups of students through fun activity based literacy centers.  

 This early literacy program, designed for students in SK or Grade 1 to provide a positive learning environment employing a range of strategies to foster emergent literacy skills. This program is a fun activity multi-sensory based learning environment where students rotate each week through literacy/numeracy activity centers. Each week of the program provides students to learn new, alternative strategies for attaining literacy/numeracy concepts utilizing multi-sensory methods to;  increase letter recognition, naming, retention, recall, phonics understanding and basic usage, develop number recognition, counting sequence, adding or subtracting, creating connections between oral language skills, reading and writing and developing early phonemic awareness.

 When: Mondays – January 21 through April 8 –

               No program nights on February 18th (Family Day) or March 11th (March Break)

Time: 4:15-5:40

Where: This program will run at 3 school locations this winter (your choice of location)

  1.     Glen Cairn Public School – 53 Frontenac (South-East London)
  2.     Lord Nelson Public School – 1990 Royal Crescent (East London)
  3.     Ealing Public School – (East/Central London)
