The Board consists of twelve members, who generally meet ten times per year, on the evening of first Wednesday of the month (in addition to any committee meetings). Directors serve two, two-year terms of office.
NLS (L&M) employs seven lawyers and four licensed paralegals to advise and represent low-income residents having problems with social assistance (disability and welfare benefits), residential tenancies and precarious employment. The organization also carries out community development in the form of advocating for the rights of its client community and providing community education.
NLS (L&M) is funded and overseen by Legal Aid Ontario, which reports to the Ontario Ministry of the Attorney General.
We welcome volunteers from diverse communities to apply.
