The Rights and Responsibilities Awareness Initiative (RRAI) provides educational sessions on legal, financial, and cultural issues for newcomers and other groups. Our goal is to educate them about their rights and responsibilities to make Canada a better welcoming place for everyone.
We are seeking volunteer community facilitators to join our Advisory Committee. Members of the Advisory Committee will play a vital role in connecting RRAI with local communities and promote RRAI activities and establish connections with their community organizations. We will ask them to ensure information about RRAI activities is distributed among their communities, and to provide RRAI with feedback from them on their community’s needs and the quality of RRAI activities.
We want to have representatives of different ethnicities, cultural, and religious backgrounds who are active in their communities.
This group will meet once a year in person with members of the RRAI board of directors. Other meetings would be via Zoom or email with them separately or as a group as needed. The advisory committee members are welcome to attend RRAI board meetings if they wish.
A member should expect a commitment of two hours per month. Member terms will be one year.
Examples of the community groups with which we seek to establish a connection are:
RRAI is committed to principles of anti-oppression and equity. We encourage members from Indigenous, ethno-racial, LGBTQ+, immigrant, refugee, differently able and other equity seeking groups to apply and self identify.
