For almost 50 years, Big Brothers Big Sisters of London and Area has been supporting children and youth (Littles) in our community by providing them with a mentor, or a Big, as we call them. All our programs—whether it’s 1:1 matching or group sessions—have the gold standard of mentorship at their core.

Reporting to the Big Brothers Big Sisters of London & Area Board of Directors, the Board Governance Committee is responsible for assessing all aspects of the Board governance practicesincluding:

● Designing, monitoring and evaluating Board policies, procedures and practices

● Evaluating Board and Board sub-committee composition, capabilities and efficacy

● Assessing the quality of information presented to the board and, where appropriate, seeking third party professional advice to support board decision making

Full committee terms of reference available upon request to interested applicants

Required Qualifications/Training: 
2-5 years’ experience working with boards of directors (Private or Non-Profit) and/or equivalent working knowledge of board management best practices
Work experience and/or training in finance, people management, volunteer management or policy development is an asset
Schedule flexibility
Skills Preferred: 
High attention to detail
Ability and willingness to conduct research, when necessary
High quality written and verbal communication skills
Ability and willingness to effectively and positively collaborate with staff and other volunteers
