The Children’s Aid Society of London & Middlesex is currently recruiting new Board Members. We recognize the impact of colonization on child welfare practices with families and communities. We are committed to the principles of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion as well as addressing Anti-Indigenous and Anti-Black systemic racism.
The Children’s Aid Society of London and Middlesex strives to have a broad mix of skills, experience and demographic characteristics on the Board. We are interested in hearing from community members who are Black Canadian, Francophone, First Nations, Inuit or Métis, Muslim, and LGBTQ2S+. Professional skills and experience in a role as an accountant or lawyer have been identified as an area of need.
The Children’s Aid Society of London & Middlesex is a registered charity mandated by the Child, Youth and Family Services Act and funded by the Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services of the Government of Ontario. Our mission is to promote the well-being of children, families and communities and to protect children and youth at risk of abuse and neglect.
As a community, we have a responsibility to keep children safe and to help families needing support to care for their children safely. When families need help, the Children’s Aid Society of London and Middlesex will work first and foremost to keep families together. Where safety is a concern, children or youth come into our care and we work towards reuniting them with their family or placing them with extended family. In circumstances where children cannot return home, we care for them with a foster family and work to find a permanent home through Legal Custody, Customary Care or Adoption.
The Children’s Aid Society of London and Middlesex has a budget of $55 million and staff of 330. Currently, we are serving approximately 430 children and youth in care and provide service to 1,200 families at any one time. Our jurisdiction includes the city of London and County of Middlesex.
