The Board of Directors of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Oxford County seeks community orientated individuals to join our Board of Directors. All Board Members are responsible for monitoring organizational performance to achieve the mission of the agency which is to “Enable life-changing mentoring relationships to ignite the power and potential of young people”.
Through leadership that transforms the lives of young people, we continue to learn from what works best and what requires change. Our first priority is to create the best possible mentoring environment. Members of the board and its standing committees play a vital role in the organization, setting its direction and ensuring the best possible outcomes for the young people we serve.
Candidates having background skills in one or more of the following areas are preferred but not required: Accounting/Financial/Business; Legal; Advertising/Marketing; Children and Youth/ Social Services; Fundraising /Event Planning; Governance; Volunteer Leadership.
All new board members receive orientation to the organization and a there is an ongoing process for board development.
Meetings are generally the 3rd Tuesday of each month, except for July and August. Commitment is between 1.5 and 5 hours per month depending on any committee work.
