Many Canadians who experience a cancer diagnosis need help getting to their appointments and lifesaving treatment. There is an opportunity in your community for you to be part of the team that provides that help.
Meet Victor, A Wheels of Hope Volunteer Driver: Video
As a driver for the Wheels of Hope transportation program, you will be provided with training and support. On your regular weekly driving day, you will transport one or more clients to their appointments. Distance and conditions are variable throughout the province. Compensation for mileage will be provided and your parking costs are covered. When you arrive home at the end of your driving day you will know that you have made a difference in the life of someone in your community.
Your call to the client the night before a drive will confirm the details and reassure them that they will get to their appointment. Using your own smoke free vehicle, you will spend time with people from all walks of life. As a CCS volunteer driver you have a good driving record and are willing to provide proof of liability insurance annually. You will be the face of the Canadian Cancer Society and have opportunity to share information about other services and resources available to those experiencing cancer.
If this sounds like something you want to learn more about please complete a Volunteer Application Form and in the box marked ‘other’ mention Wheels of Hope. Thank you for your interest and support!
