Canadian Foundation for Refugee Education
The Canadian Foundation for Refugee Education (CFRE) / Fondation Canadienne pour l’Éducation des Réfugiés is proud to announce its official incorporation as a federal non-profit organization under the Canada Not-for-profit Corporations Act
The bilingual status of the Foundation reflects its mandate to serve communities across Canada — including Quebec and other French-speaking provinces — as well as refugee-hosting communities globally.
The purpose of the corporation is to advance access to education for refugee children and youth at every stage of learning. The corporation will provide sponsorships, essential learning resources, and support for schools and institutions in refugee-hosting communities. It will build sustainable partnerships with local and international stakeholders, conduct research, and promote refugee-led scholarship in order to strengthen educational opportunities and empower displaced children and youth to create secure, hopeful, and self-reliant futures.
In addition, the corporation shall publish scholarly refugee-led research and literature to promote literary art and academic excellence, thereby amplifying refugee voices and contributing to knowledge production in the fields of education, displacement, and refugee studies.
“This milestone formalizes our commitment to creating secure, hopeful, and self-reliant futures for displaced children and youth,” said the Board of Directors.
