Join Pillar's Board of Directors

Are you passionate about driving meaningful change in your community and supporting a vibrant nonprofit sector? Pillar Nonprofit Network invites you to consider contributing your skills and perspectives by joining our leadership team.

We recruit new Board of Directors members annually, with appointments confirmed at our April Annual General Meeting. While there may not always be board vacancies, we’re continually building a pool of engaged, talented individuals interested in future opportunities.

In addition to board positions, we welcome community members to participate on our Finance and Audit CommitteeGovernance Committee, or Resource Development Committee, where you can share your expertise and support critical aspects of our work.

Why Get Involved?

  • Play a role in advancing equity, collaboration, and system change in the nonprofit sector.
  • Provide strategic guidance and contribute your expertise to governance or committee work.
  • Connect with other leaders dedicated to creating a stronger, more inclusive community.

Opportunities to Engage

As a Board Member, you will:

  • Contribute to shaping our organization’s direction and impact.
  • Attend regular board meetings (6–12 times per year) and actively participate in strategic discussions.
  • Serve on one of our committees or working groups.

Want to make an impact but can’t commit to a full board position? Consider joining as an Advisory Committee Member.

As an Advisory Committee Member, you will:

  • Provide valuable input on strategic decisions without the full responsibilities of a board position.
  • Serve on one of Pillar’s committees, including:
    • Finance and Audit Committee: Provide financial oversight and strategic advice to strengthen our financial sustainability.
    • Governance Committee: Strengthen organizational governance through policy development, board recruitment, and succession planning, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory standards.
    • Resource Development Committee: Support fundraising and resource development strategies to advance our mission.

This is a great opportunity for individuals to build leadership skills, deepen their involvement with Pillar, and gain experience in nonprofit governance.

Who Should Apply?

Pillar is committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive board that reflects the communities we serve. We particularly encourage applications from individuals who identify as Black, Indigenous, or people of colour, as well as those with disabilities, members of the 2SLGBTQ+ community, and individuals with diverse areas of expertise and lived experiences.

We are especially seeking individuals who bring expertise in the following areas:

  • Operations and Governance
  • Strategic Planning
  • Accounting and Finance
  • Corporate Sponsorship and Fundraising
  • Legal Expertise
  • Arts and Music
