The conventional structures used to organize how people routinely work together stifle inclusion and engagement; but there's a better way to engage teams in problem solving and creative ideation. Liberating Structures are a set of 33+ “seriously fun” activities which aim to effectively bring groups together in inclusive and collaborative ways. They can be used to facilitate discussion, engage in decision making, or enhance learning.

In this virtual session, you’ll learn what Liberating Structures are, why and when you could use them, and how they can enhance interactivity in your online meetings and learning events. Come ready to participate and experience several Liberating Structures that you’ll be able to turn around and use right away in your own group collaborations.

Where could you use Liberating Structures?

  • Volunteer appreciation events
  • Staff/Board retreats and meetings
  • Workshops, webinars and any learning opportunity
  • Community engagement events

By the end of this session you will be able to:

  • Describe what Liberating Structures are and how they can engage participants in your online meetings and learning events
  • Connect with the principles that  guide Liberating Structures
  • Access additional resources and supports for future work with Liberating Structures
  • Walk away with examples of Liberating Structures to use in your own sessions

All participants will be given an Introduction to Liberating Structures guide to begin familiarizing themselves with the structures and the international community of people using them.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND: Anyone interested in learning new ways of engaging with people - in person or online - that can involve everyone and unleash innovation.
