Project 51 London Volunteer Training

Pillar Nonprofit Network is seeking volunteers to help coach community organizations that wish to deliver Municipal Voter Engagement popup events for their communities along a 'train the trainer' model.

What’s involved?

  1. Register as a volunteer and you will receive a link to join the training

  2. Take the online training (2 hours) offered by the Democratic Engagement Exchange

  3. Train a team from a community organization in what you have learned (2 hours). We can help pair you with an organization or it is possible for you to choose one to support

  4. Helping to put on the event itself is optional, but possible.

Required Qualifications/Training: You must attend the training in order to participate in this project. The online training is offered by the Democratic Engagement Exchange in the Faculty of Arts at Toronto Metropolitan University.

The training course you will take is: Municipal Elections: Engaging Our Communities - Online Workshop, Democratic Engagement Exchange, Tuesday, September 27, 10am – 12pm EDT

WHO SHOULD ATTEND? Open to anyone interested in improving voter turnout and engagement in the upcoming London municipal election.

WHY SHOULD YOU ATTEND THIS TRAINING AND GET INVOLVED?

If we genuinely want better representation and more diverse representation among our decision-makers, we need to think about who’s voting and who isn’t. The strongest indicator of future voting behaviour is whether your family normalized voting, especially by taking you to the polls. You can help create another opportunity for Londoners to begin ‘a voting habit,’ for themselves and for their families, by helping a community organization put on a Project 51 London voter popup.

If you are interested in participating please send an email to policy@pillarnonprofit.ca.

Any questions about this event please reach out to Paul Seale at pseale@pillarnonprofit.ca
