In the spirit of bringing communities together for ReconciliACTION and building off our June session on Treaties, on Wednesday September 16 Atlohsa Family Services is collaborating with Pillar Nonprofit Network to discuss #LandBack - putting Treaty recognition, Indigenous sovereignty and self-determination into practice in your organization, workplace, and personal life.
This day-long event is highly participatory, featuring guest speakers, catered lunch, and activities to think through the concepts you are learning. Throughout the day, participate in group reflection through Conversation Cafes designed for participants to grow awareness, deepen understanding, develop relationships, and build towards solidarity.
Please note: an optional short walk activity in the downtown core is part of this event. If you have accessibility concerns, please contact the event organizers. An alternative activity can be provided.
Come and learn about the Indigenous #LandBack movement in the context of Treaties as contemporary, living agreements and putting being a “Treaty Person” into practice.
Open to everyone.
Attending previous ReconciliACTION workshops not required. Having some general knowledge of Treaties and Indigenous Peoples in Canada recommended.
Note on Attendance: This is a knowledge exchange and building event; please plan to attend for the full day if possible, however you are welcome to drop in. Please note that while a loose agenda will be posted closer to the event, frequently in Indigenous communities timelines shift to make space for who is in the room and the conversations that emerge.
Presented by Pillar Nonprofit Network and Atlohsa Family Healing Services.
About ReconciliACTION:
Focusing on strengthening and building radical relationalities towards collaborative, equitable and just futures we can all see ourselves in, ReconciliACTION is a community education event, open to all. ReconciliACTION started in 2022 as an educational initiative designed to bring grassroots, community organizations, academics and community members together to hear about the work being done towards Reconciliation in the Forest City and beyond, and to collectively dream about what ReconciliACTION looks like in your own organizations, schools, and around the dinner table.
