London, ON – On Tuesday, local MPP Terence Kernaghan joined the team at Pillar Nonprofit Network to announce a $187,800 Capital grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF). This investment is funding essential repairs to the roof and heating and cooling systems at Innovation Works, Pillar’s 40,000 sq. ft. community hub and co-working space in downtown London.
“I am pleased to see the Ontario Trillium Foundation’s investment having a tangible impact in our city. The roof repairs at Innovation Works will help safeguard this vital community hub, ensuring it remains a supportive and accessible space for local nonprofits and social enterprises,” said Terence Kernaghan, MPP for London North Centre.
These repairs are critical to ensuring the safety, accessibility, and long-term sustainability of the building. With this support, Pillar will continue to welcome more than 3,500 individuals each year and provide a safe, collaborative home for over 65 co-tenants - including nonprofits, social enterprises, businesses, and community organizations - that rely on Innovation Works to deliver programs and services across London and Southwestern Ontario.
This project will extend the life of Innovation Works, safeguarding space for thousands of staff, members, volunteers, and community partners to continue accessing workshops, events, and collaborative programming. Without these critical upgrades, the building faced significant risk that threatened the delivery of essential services and community supports.
“We are grateful to the Ontario Trillium Foundation for supporting these critical repairs. This investment ensures Innovation Works remains safe and welcoming for the many nonprofits, social enterprises, and community members who rely on it every day,” said Maureen Cassidy, CEO, Pillar Nonprofit Network.
The Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF) is an agency of the Ontario government with a mission to build healthy and vibrant communities across the province. Last year, OTF invested nearly $105 million into 732 community projects and multi-sector partnerships. Projects aim to enhance economic well-being, foster active lifestyles, support child and youth development, provide spaces for connection, and create a more sustainable environment.
