On August 22nd, MP Peter Fragiskatos, London North and MP Kate Young, London West hosted a London based consultation for the Innovation Agenda with the Federal Government.
Michelle Baldwin represented Pillar Nonprofit Network and Innovation Works and Lina Bowden represented VERGE Capital at the local consultation.
Innovation is the path to inclusive growth that fosters a thriving middle class and opens our country to new economic, social and environmental possibilities.
To achieve this vision, the Government of Canada is focusing on six areas for action:
- Promoting an Entrepreneurial and Creative Society
- Supporting Global Science Excellence
- Building World-leading Clusters and Partnerships
- Growing Companies and Accelerating Clean Growth
- Competing in a Digital World
- Improving Ease of Doing Business
These areas are the focus of a summer-long period of public engagement that will result in an action plan. Outcomes and targets will be used to measure progress toward the vision of positioning Canada as a global leader in skilled talent as well as the development of new products, services, business models and markets across all industries. The input from the consultations will provide helpful insight and enable vital feedback that will be passed along to the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science, and Economic Development.
