Progressive Animal Welfare Services (PAWS) is seeking a dedicated and strategic-minded Director of Technology to lead and strengthen our technology infrastructure, ensuring our volunteers have the systems and support they need to serve pets and their families.
This is an opportunity to play a key leadership role within a growing nonprofit by overseeing our technology platforms, leading a team of volunteers, and driving technology solutions that support PAWS' mission.
This is a volunteer, unpaid, remote leadership role.
About Us
Progressive Animal Welfare Services (PAWS) is a volunteer-based charity organization dedicated to helping people struggling to afford unexpected veterinary care for their pets. We provide financial assistance for essential veterinary care and promote preventative solutions that keep pets healthy, safe, and with the families who love them.
Key Responsibilities
Technology Leadership
Provide strategic leadership for PAWS' technology infrastructure and digital systems.
Develop and implement technology strategies that support organizational growth and operational excellence.
Ensure technology solutions align with PAWS' mission, goals, and long-term priorities.
Identify opportunities to improve efficiency through new technologies and automation.
Systems Management
Oversee the administration and ongoing maintenance of Google Workspace, Keela, website infrastructure, and other organizational technology platforms.
Ensure systems remain secure, reliable, and properly documented.
Monitor website performance and overall system health.
Recommend and implement technology upgrades when appropriate.
Team Leadership & Support
Recruit, mentor, and support members of the Technology Team, fostering a collaborative and knowledgeable volunteer environment.
Support troubleshooting and resolve escalated technology issues.
Encourage knowledge sharing through documentation and standardized processes.
Collaboration & Continuous Improvement
Work closely with Board members and department leaders to understand organizational technology needs.
Participate in organizational planning and cross-functional initiatives.
Report on technology initiatives, system performance, and future technology priorities.
Qualifications
Strong commitment to the mission, vision, and values of PAWS.
Experience in information technology, systems administration, or technology leadership.
Experience managing Google Workspace, WordPress, cloud-based technologies, and digital collaboration tools.
Strong leadership, project management, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
Experience with nonprofit technology platforms such as Keela is considered an asset.

Time Commitment
5 hours per week.
Preferred two-year Board term.
Monthly Board of Directors meetings.
Regular meetings with the Technology Team.
Flexible daytime, evening, and occasional weekend availability.

Applicants should ideally be located in Southwest Ontario, including:
London or Middlesex County
Waterloo Region
Brant County
Hamilton region
