Progressive Animal Welfare Services (PAWS) is a compassionate charity based in Southwestern Ontario, dedicated to keeping people and their pets together during times of crisis by providing support, education, and access to essential resources.
We are seeking an enthusiastic and people-focused Volunteer Engagement Coordinator to help foster a positive, inclusive, and rewarding volunteer experience. In this role, you will build strong relationships with our dedicated volunteers, support their journey from onboarding through ongoing engagement, and help cultivate a connected and motivated volunteer community.

About the Role:
The Volunteer Engagement Coordinator plays a key role in ensuring PAWS volunteers feel welcomed, supported, recognized, and connected to our mission. This role focuses on building positive volunteer experiences, strengthening engagement, and helping PAWS retain a thriving volunteer community.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate volunteer onboarding, orientation, and offboarding
- Act as a point of contact for volunteer questions and support
- Support volunteer recognition and appreciation initiatives
- Collaborate with team leads to understand volunteer needs and placements
- Assist with volunteer communications (emails, updates, surveys)
- Track volunteer engagement and participation where needed
- Contribute ideas to improve volunteer experience and retention
Skills & Qualifications
- Passion for animal welfare and community support
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Organized, reliable, and comfortable managing multiple priorities
- Experience working with volunteers, HR, or community engagement is an asset
- Comfortable working remotely and collaboratively with a volunteer team
- Familiarity with Google Workspace or similar tools is an asset
Commitment:
- Term - Minimum 6 months
- 3 to 4 hours per week
- Attendance at meetings as necessary
