The annual Western Fair provides a wide range of volunteer opportunities for individuals, service groups, and high school students 14 years of age or older. It’s a great opportunity to actively participate in London’s largest community event while earning valuable work experience, making new friends, and having fun. There are many roles that engage with the public, monitor displays, guide groups, or greet our guests. Parking is FREE.

A few examples for the 2026 fair are:

• Heritage Hall Volunteer: Monitor the Heritage Hall display in the J-AAR Expo Centre, reminding customers not to touch, and answering any questions about the exhibit. This position is primarily indoors and involves a combination of walking and sitting. If you love history, this might be the role for you!

• School Ag Barn Tour Volunteer: Western Fair School Ag Tours provide students with hands-on agricultural education through visits with animal experts and livestock breed displays. Each volunteer will be paired with a school group and accompany them throughout the School Ag Tours. Volunteers will guide their assigned group from one educational pod to the next, ensuring they know where to go and when to move to the next activity. You will be standing and walking, mostly indoors, with some outdoor duties during school group arrivals and departures.

• Theatre Usher Volunteer: Our Video Theatre Attraction at the Fair needs a Theatre Usher. In essence there would be an entrance area that the usher(s) could stand at and open a stretch of stanchion or curtain to allow the public to load in for the short video, when it's show time they close the curtain, so passersby aren't walking in and out of the experience and then they open the exit side of the curtain when the mini movie is done. No popcorn, no flashlights, just smiles, open and close the video experience. We will run 2-3 showings an hour while the building (J-AAR Expo Centre) is open.
