Job Description:
Carolinian Canada is seeking a Communications Specialist to help support seasonal activities to engage community members in learning about native species and track impact. The chosen candidate must be able to work independently in a virtual workspace and be willing to attend community events as necessary. This role is perfect for someone who is passionate about environment, ecology and connecting with people to make a difference in their community.
Duties will be tailored to applicant abilities, but may include the following responsibilities:
- Attending virtual meetings
- Communicating via email and in person
- Research tasks
- Social media content creation
- Tracking social media engagement analytics
- Report and blog writing
- Knowledge of local ecology (native plants and wildlife species)
- Photography and video creation
- Attending local nature and community events
- Public speaking virtually and in person
- Data management and analysis
Requirements:
- Canadian citizens, permanent residents, and persons granted refugee status in Canada are eligible to apply
- Must be eligible for the Canada Summer Jobs Program
- Excellent communication and team collaboration skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks efficiently
- Interest in conservation, environmental issues, or non-profit sector is an asset
This is a virtual position and requires the applicant to have access to a laptop or home computer with privacy provisions. Preference will be given to candidates in the Windsor/Essex County area who are able to attend local events. Access to independent transportation may be required to attend community events.
