Literacy Link South Central (LLSC) is a nonprofit organization committed to strengthening the adult literacy and foundational skills sector across Southwestern Ontario. We support adult learning service providers, engage in regional planning, share resources, and collaborate to improve access, equity, and outcomes in our communities.
Position Overview
LLSC is seeking dedicated, community-minded individuals to join our volunteer Board of Directors. Board members help guide the strategic direction of the organization, support effective governance, and strengthen literacy and skills development across the region.
Key Responsibilities
- Participate in 5–6 in‑person Board meetings per year (each approx. 2 hours)
- Dedicate up to 5 hours per month for professional development, committee work, reviewing materials, and correspondence
- Bring professional knowledge and lived experience to Board discussions
- Support LLSC’s mission, values, and long‑term goals
- Follow effective governance practices and fiduciary responsibilities
Ideal Candidates
We welcome applicants who:
- Understand or are interested in learning nonprofit board governance
- Are financially literate or willing to develop financial oversight skills
- Are comfortable participating in collaborative decision‑making
- Represent diverse perspectives and professional experiences
