Time Commitment: Approximately 10–15 hours/week, with increased availability required during event week

Are you passionate about creating safe, welcoming, and well-organized spaces for communities? Join our team as a Health & Safety Coordinator Volunteer and help ensure our events are prepared, accessible, and safe for attendees, volunteers, vendors, and staff.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with developing event health and safety plans and procedures

  • Support risk assessments and identify potential safety concerns

  • Help create safety guidelines and resources for volunteers and event teams

  • Assist with communicating safety expectations and procedures

  • Monitor safety practices during events and report concerns to the appropriate team members

  • Support incident documentation and response procedures when needed

  • Collaborate with coordinators to promote a safe, inclusive, and accessible event environment

Skills & Experience:

  • Degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Public Health, Environmental Health, Emergency Management, Nursing/Healthcare, Event Management, Risk Management, Business Administration, or a related field

  • Interest or experience in health and safety, risk management, emergency planning, healthcare, event operations, or related fields

  • Knowledge of workplace safety practices and regulations is an asset

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities

  • Ability to remain calm, practical, and solution-oriented in unexpected situations

  • Experience with safety planning, accessibility, or emergency procedures is an asset
