Volunteer with Nuit Blanche London 2026
Nuit Blanche London is a free, all-night public art festival that transforms the city into an immersive canvas for contemporary creativity. Presented in partnership with the London Society of Architects (LSA), the Ontario Association of Architects (OAA), Dundas Place (City of London), with support from the local arts community, the festival returns on September 19, 2026.
Nuit Blanche London activates Dundas St as a canvasfor artistic and architectural exploration; invitingartists, audiences and communities to experience theurban landscape in new and unexpected ways. It is a celebration of the ideas shaping our built environment today and tomorrow. Through temporary installations,interventions and spatial experiences, artists and participants are invited to reimagine how people move through, perceive and connect with our city.
This year’s theme (THIS IS NOT A LANDMARK) invites artists to question how public space is defined and used, and torethink how the everyday built environment and urban interventions shape experience, culture and identity.
Volunteers play an active role in bringing London's community together, gaining meaningful experience in public engagement, supporting local artists, and contributing to a city-wide celebration of creativity and culture.
Event Details
Date: Saturday, September 19, 2026
This is an outdoor event, so volunteers should dress comfortably for the weather. Please note that each role requires standing for extended periods.
Set-Up Shifts | 2:30 PM – 5:00 PM / 4:30 PM – 7:30 PM
Assist with preparing the event site before opening. Tasks may include setting up signage, furniture, supplies, and supporting artists with installation to ensure the event is ready for the public.
Event Shift | 6:00 PM – 9:30 PM
Support event operations during public hours. Responsibilities may include welcoming visitors, providing wayfinding, supporting artists and technical teams, monitoring installations, answering questions, and assisting with general event logistics.
Event Shift | 9:00 PM – 12:30 AM
Continue supporting event operations throughout the evening. Volunteers may assist with visitor engagement, wayfinding, artist and technical support, monitoring installations, responding to operational needs, and preparing for event close.
Tear-Down Shift | 10:30 PM – 1:00 AM
Assist with safely dismantling the event following its conclusion. Tasks may include packing equipment and supplies, assisting with the removal of installations, returning materials, and restoring the venue.
Volunteer Roles
Event Volunteer
Assist with guest services, wayfinding, accessibility support, event logistics and general event operations.
Artist Support
Support artists and programming staff before, during, and after the event by assisting with installations, activations, and site-specific programming needs.
Technical Volunteer
Assist with audiovisual equipment, lighting and interactive installations.
All volunteers will receive a short virtual orientation before the event to ensure they feel prepared and supported in their roles. Orientation dates will be arranged with selected volunteers and communicated in advance.
