ORGANIZATION DESCRIPTION: Pearce Williams is an incorporated not-for-profit and a federally registered charity. We operate a children’s summer camp and a year-round retreat facility associated with The United Church of Canada. Our 175-acre property includes both managed and natural spaces - forested uplands, valleys, and rolling rural landscapes. Since 1960, Pearce Williams has welcomed children from near and far, offering experiences that foster growth, connection, and lifelong memories.

Pearce Williams’ mission is to welcome all who come, teach all who wish to learn, and serve God in all we do. Our vision is a sustainably managed, inclusive, and accessible place for personal growth, development, inclusion, and connection–across generations.

We believe a week of camp lasts a lifetime and use the following as guiding principles:

  • Every child deserves a week at camp,

  • Do what needs to be done, and

  • Leave everything and everyone better than you found them

POSITION: Director, Volunteer Board

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The Board of Directors operates through a collaborative partnership between the Board and the Executive Director. The Board’s focus is on visioning, strategic direction, governance and oversight. Day-to-day operations are led by the Executive Director and supported by a staff team.

The Board meets monthly face-to-face or virtually on the third Wednesday of each month (excepting July and August) from 7:00–9:00 pm. Strategy sessions are held on-site, once or twice a year and normally on a Saturday in the spring and fall. Involvement in task-teams and committees provides opportunities for making additional contributions. The Annual General Meeting is held in May at which all Directors are elected.

As a Board member, you will:

  • Contribute to strategic direction and good governance
  • Support programs that benefit youth, seniors, and the broader community

  • Help steward a cherished local organization into the future

  • Work alongside a committed, collaborative group of volunteers.

If you’re looking to make a difference, share your skills, and be part of something meaningful, we’d love to hear from you.

  • Do you want to make a significant contribution to young people?

  • Will you commit time for meetings, planning and events?

  • Do you have expertise in areas such as Legal, Fundraising, Human Resources, Accounting, Marketing, Leadership?

  • Are you a supporter, believer, and an advocate for Pearce Williams within the broader community, and within your own faith communities?
