Summary:

We are currently seeking a Grant Writer to research, identify, and apply for grant funding opportunities that align with PAWS’ mission. In this role, you will work closely with our leadership team to understand program needs, gather relevant information, and craft strong, compelling proposals. Your writing will help expand our capacity to serve more animals, support more families, and build stronger, more compassionate communities.

The ideal candidate has experience with grant writing or proposal development, strong attention to detail, and excellent written communication skills. This role is remote and flexible, requiring approximately 2–3 hours per week, making it a great fit for someone looking to contribute meaningfully on a manageable schedule.

About Us:

Progressive Animal Welfare Services (PAWS) Canada is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping pets and their families remain together during times of crisis. We provide access to essential care programs, resources, and support services aimed at preventing surrender, promoting animal well-being, and strengthening human-animal bonds. Our work is currently centered in London, Ontario, where the City of London is our primary municipal partner.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Research and identify grant opportunities that align with PAWS’ mission and programs.

  • Write clear, persuasive, and well-structured grant proposals and supporting documents.

  • Collaborate with program staff and leadership to gather necessary data, impact stories, and organizational information.

  • Track grant deadlines, submission requirements, and reporting expectations.

  • Assist in maintaining organized grant documentation and records.

  • Support the development of funding strategies that expand PAWS’ reach and sustainability.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Familiarity or experience with grant writing (nonprofit experience is an asset).

  • Excellent written communication skills, particularly in persuasive or technical writing.

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to meet submission deadlines.

  • Organized, self-motivated, and comfortable working independently.

  • Ability to research funding opportunities and interpret eligibility criteria.

  • Passion for animal welfare and alignment with PAWS’ mission and values.

Commitment:

  • Term: Minimum 6 months preferred.

  • Hours: Approximately 2–3 hours per week.

  • Location: Remote.

  • Meetings: Occasional check-ins with the PAWS leadership or program team as needed.

This volunteer role offers the chance to create a meaningful and lasting impact by directly contributing to the programs that keep pets and families together. Your work will help expand lifesaving services, grow community support, and build a stronger, more compassionate future.

If you are ready to use your skills to make a difference, we would love to hear from you.
