Why Attend?

  • Gain expert guidance on incorporating your nonprofit under the Ontario Not-for-Profit Corporations Act (ONCA) or federally, tailored to your organization’s needs.
  • Save significantly compared to traditional legal services, which often cost $2,500–$5,000 per organization.
  • Collaborate and learn alongside peers in a dynamic, interactive environment.
  • Walk away with completed legal documents, including your articles of incorporation and bylaws, as well as a roadmap for holding your first meetings.

Session Format Options:

  • Full-day immersive workshop (6.5 hours, including breaks and lunch)
  • Multi-part series (divided into manageable sessions for flexible learning)
  • Delivery options: Online, hybrid, or in person (travel costs apply for in-person sessions)

Pricing:

  • Flat fee: $250/ Organisation
  • It is recommended that each organisation bring 2 people to the session. Please include the name of the 2nd participant in the additional information box on the registration page.

Participant Experience:
Benjamin Miller brings extensive expertise and a dynamic facilitation style to this session, making complex legal processes accessible and engaging. With an ideal group size of 25–60 participants, attendees benefit from shared learning, networking, and collaboration, amplifying the impact of this session.

What You’ll Learn and Do:
By the end of this session, participants will have:

  1. Selected the right jurisdiction: Understand the differences between incorporating federally and provincially.
  2. Completed articles of incorporation: Draft essential governing documents with structured guidance.
  3. Prepared for initial meetings: Gain clarity on holding your first board and members’ meetings.
  4. Created bylaws: Develop a customized set of bylaws tailored to your nonprofit’s needs.

Session Outline:

In this full-day session, participants will be guided through taking all the legal steps necessary to actually incorporating a nonprofit, including:

  • Choosing a jurisdiction (incorporating federally versus provincially)
  • Filling in articles of incorporation
  • Holding the first board and members' meetings
  • Creating a set of bylaws

For each section of the articles of incorporation, participants will have structured time to create their own documents using online tools and will have an opportunity to ask questions, hear from one another, and create the governing documents they need to set themselves up for success.
