Grant Seekers' Guide to the Galaxy: Preparing Passionate Proposals

The practice of writing, developing and researching for applications and proposals is often met with laboured groans as one works through the tedious task of grant writing. However, if we can learn to be more effective and strategic, maybe it doesn't have to be so hard!

Focusing on the essential elements of a proposal, this workshop will provide participants with tips, insights and strategies for effective grant writing. Through this exploration, participants will enhance their skills and gain new tools and resources to achieve success in their grant writing endeavours.

Topics covered:

  • The Context of Grant Writing 

    • Knowing the environment you are working in and understanding the competition

  • Steps to grant writing:

    • Identifying Need

    • Being Prepared

    • Researching Potential Funders

    • Reviewing the Application

    • Contacting the Funder 

    • Writing the grant

    • After the Congrats call

 

Following this discussion, a panel of funders will offer their insights and answer questions. 

 

Level: Beginner – Intermediate

 

Target Audience: Executive Directors, board members, new fundraising professionals and any staff who are interested in enhancing their current grant writing skills.
