Democratic Socialists of Canada
We are a membership-led, democratically run socialist organization committed to building socialism in Canada.
We believe in the power of collective action. We aim to organize poor and working-class people across Canada, so that they can leverage their strength to challenge and dismantle capitalism and other oppressive structures.
Our goal is to empower working-class Canadians to control economic, legal, and governmental institutions, creating a society that prioritizes the needs and rights of the many over the interests of the few.
Our Approach
Our approach is rooted in the belief that real power lies in the ability to disrupt the status quo and demand concessions from those in power.
We follow a Theory of Change that emphasizes structure-based organizing. This means building strong, interconnected communities that can sustain collective action and create crises for capital. Our strategy is not about temporary fixes or raising awareness alone; it's about winning tangible victories that improve the lives of working-class people.
Areas of Focus
Tenant and Labour Organizing: Supporting tenants and workers in forming unions to demand better living and working conditions.
Training and Education: Developing and providing organizing training and educational programs to members and at-large working class people
Coalition Building: Building coalitions between groups of tenants and workers. Creating a united front against the capitalist forces that seek to divide us.
