Annual Community Connector 2022

Recovery and Joy: Holding the Balance

Pillar Nonprofit Network invites our members, supporters and the community to our 2022 Annual Community Connector, our version of an Annual General Meeting.

Join us as we look back over how we evolved and what we learned in 2021. We will discuss how the social impact sector and equity-deserving communities can prioritize joy and both personal and community care as we continue to work towards building a more equitable, inclusive and sustainable future together. We will also be making an exciting announcement about the launch of a new program to support community recovery and the future of the Pillar Community Innovation Awards.

There is no denying that two years into the pandemic we continue to face great challenges as a sector and as individuals. As we navigate uncertain times, face increased demands, and continue to deepen our awareness of, or directly experience, the social issues facing equity-deserving communities, there is a heaviness we are all feeling. While there is individual and collective pain that must be honoured, this time gives us the opportunity to consider the duality of the struggle of social recovery and the power of joy.

Finding opportunities for joy in our lives and our work is vital to our recovery. For racialized and other equity-deserving communities, expressing joy is a self-affirming and radical act within a system that aims to marginalize, oppress and other. Reclaiming our joy allows us to find meaning in the moment, unites us as we honour our commonalities and differences, and enables us to dig deep and continue to drive change forward.
