ABOUT THE PRESENTERS:

Maureen Cassidy, CEO at Pillar Nonprofit Network; and

Paul Seale, Manager of Public Policy and Advocacy at Pillar Nonprofit Network 

Maureen Cassidy is the CEO at Pillar Nonprofit Network. Maureen joined Pillar in October 2022 and was appointed as Permanent CEO in September 2023. Formerly, she served as City Councillor for Ward 5 for the City of London from 2014-2022.

She has strong community connections, having served as Deputy Mayor, Co-Chair of the Poverty Reduction Panel, and Chair of the Middlesex-London Health Unit Board of Health during the first two years of the pandemic. Maureen has worked closely with local Indigenous leaders to help build the foundation for new relationships between First Nations communities and City Hall and make progress on City Council's path toward reconciliation. She was also involved in several committees with the Federation of Canadian Municipalities and has been a mentor and panelist with the Women in Civic Leadership joint program at Brescia University and King’s University.

Paul Seale is the Manager of Public Policy and Advocacy at Pillar Nonprofit Network. Paul believes that everyone deserves to belong and to use their own power to create inclusive and just systems. In his role at Pillar that means connecting people to each other and to ideas and resources that help individuals and organizations make positive change together. Paul has been an archivist, an academic, a restaurateur, and a communications professional, but is best-known in London for years of grassroots community development. To his work at Pillar, he brings a network of contacts in the arts, business, and community service. Paul believes most people want to connect to a larger purpose and that the real work is to replace barriers with bridges.
