London Waldorf School was established in 1980. We offer the following programs: Licensed Child Care, Kindergarten, and Grades One through Eight. Our school is a member of the Association of Waldorf Schools of North America (AWSNA) and Waldorf Early Childhood Association of North America (WECAN). London Waldorf School is a vibrant learning community where education, based on a deep understanding of the developing child, integrates the intellectual with the artistic, the practical with the beautiful – fostering the ability to engage more fully in the world.

Hours of Work and Compensation

The usual hours of work for the After Care Provider will be from 3:15 pm to 5:30 pm, each weekday that school is in session. This position is on a temporary part-time contract from August 28, 2024 until June 20, 2025. The rate of pay is $20.19 per hour plus 5% vacation pay.

Overall Purpose of the Position

The position of After Care Provider involves arriving at 3:15 pm to assist with the safe dismissal of students being picked up in the traffic circle. The individual who holds this position will then provide supervision & programming for children outdoors, moving indoors depending on weather conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Work with a wide age range of children from Kindergarten to Grade 8.
  • Respond in an age appropriate manner when addressing the needs of the young child.
  • Work independently and assume responsibility for the whole group and/or individual children.
  • Follow up with class teachers when an issue around a child arises. 
  • Maintain an orderly and clean environment
  • Implement programming based on Waldorf pedagogy.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, along with an approachable manner towards parents and colleagues.
  • Physical ability to attend to children’s needs.
  • An understanding of child development.
  • First Aid certification (Child and Infant First Aid and CPR preferred).
  • RECE certification, teaching certification, or equivalent experience.
