Community Capacity Builder

Atlohsa Family Healing Services is seeking a motivated and dynamic individual to fill the role of Community Capacity Builder on the Action Research for Chronic Homelessness (ARCH) project within the Giwetashkad Indigenous Homelessness Team. The primary role of the Community Capacity Builder is to assist the activities to the research project, including community engagement with Indigenous peoples experiencing homelessness as well as service providers in the housing and homelessness field. Role and Responsibility
Working as part of the Giwetashkad Indigenous Homelessness team and using a wholistic Indigenous-led approach rooted in Indigenous educational pedagogy, the Community Capacity Builder will work collaboratively with the project team to develop training curriculum on topics such as Indigenous-led and culturally relevant screening tools and assessments, culturally safe procedures and practices for housing and homelessness service pathways, Indigenous self-identification and data quality, trauma-informed and decolonizing care approaches, Indigenous harm reduction, and Indigenous homelessness (for both virtual and in-person sessions). The Community Capacity Builder will be responsible for organizing training sessions, all event logistics, collaboratively preparing, writing, and drafting educational content for training sessions, and overseeing post-training feedback surveys. The successful applicant will navigate complex group discussions about colonization, systemic racism, and power dynamics in social service delivery in a respectful and welcoming way while stimulating critical reflection.
