The Alice Saddy Association is seeking 2 Full-Time Direct Support Professionals to provide individualized, person-centered support to adults who are deafblind and living with developmental disabilities. This is meaningful work that fosters personal growth, fulfillment, and enriched community participation.
As an Direct Support Professional / Intervenor, you will act as a communication bridge, using a variety of methods to support understanding, connections, and engagement with their environment. In this role you will support individuals to build life skills, promote independence, participate meaningfully in their communities, develop relationships, and live fulfilling, self-directed lives.

Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will:

Support daily living activities, personal care, meal planning, budgeting, and health lifestyle choices; knowledge of renal or other specialized diets is considered an asset.

Respond patiently and respectfully to verbal and non-verbal communication cues, offering calm, reassuring support that promotes autonomy and confidence.

Seek out and plan meaningful activities, including exploring new opportunities, building relationships, and increasing community engagement.

Communicate professionally with colleagues, families/guardians, and community partners.

Uphold the Association’s mission, vision, values, and strategic direction.

Use multiple communication methods (e.g., ASL, SEE, LSQ, tactile or adapted communication) as appropriate.
Qualifications
-
College diploma in Developmental Services Worker (DSW), Social Service Worker (SSW), Community Services Worker (DSW), Personal Support Worker (PSW), and/or a combination of education and experience.

Previous experience as an Intervenor is considered an asset.

Valid Vulnerable Sector Police Record Check specific to the Alice Saddy Association.

First Aid & CPR + AED certification (or willingness to obtain).

CPI or Safe Management certification (or willingness to obtain).

A valid Class G Driver’s License, access to a reliable vehicle, current clean driver’s abstract, and valid insurance.

Proof of being fully vaccinated for COVID-19 (required upon hire).
