FUNDRAISING & COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT COORDINATOR

The London & Middlesex Heritage Museum – Fanshawe Pioneer Village is seeking a qualified candidate to join our team in the role of Fundraising and Community Engagement Coordinator.  This part-time contract position will support fundraising initiatives, as well as administration of the volunteer program for the organization.

Hours/Days of Work:  21-28 hours/week

  • 3-4 days per week.  Generally, on-site, weekdays during business hours.
  • Work days and hours will flex to meet the needs of the role. Given the nature of the job, evening and weekend work will be required during fundraising activities and special events.

Term:  Part-time, 12-month contract

Duties and Responsibilities:

Fundraising: (approx. 70% of hours)

Scope: Supports the operational Fund Development activities of the Executive Director, and grows fundraising potential through new opportunities and initiatives.

  • Assists with grant and foundation research for funding to support operations and programming activities;
  • Assists with drafting grant applications;
  • Coordinates donation campaigns and expands individual donor base;
  • Works with Fundraising Committee to coordinate, develop and present a new high-value fundraising event or activity;
  • Administers online ticketing sales for special event fundraisers;
  • Assists with the delivery of large, non-programing special events;
  • Coordinates requests for in-kind donations from the community to support the Museum (ie. programming materials and supplies or silent auction items).

Volunteer Program Administration: (approx. 30% of hours)

Scope: Responsible for coordination of the Volunteer Program to ensure volunteer resources support the needs of the organization.

  • Coordinate recruitment, training, and recognition of volunteers;
  • Conducts volunteer intake and screening process;
  • Schedules and organizes mandatory and specialized volunteer training in conjunction with applicable Department Coordinators;
  • Coordinates assignment of newly oriented volunteers with relevant Department Coordinators;
  • Implements regular communication strategies to connect with volunteers;
  • Provide relevant volunteer information to the Administrative Assistant for volunteer record keeping;
  • Coordinates the scheduling of volunteers for special fundraising events.
  • Supports the strategic direction of the organization;
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Qualifications
  • Undergraduate degree, College Diploma or equivalent training in a relevant discipline, preferably in Fundraising/Fund Development, or studies related to Non-profit Management, Administration or Volunteer Coordination;
  • Previous experience working in a non-profit environment and with volunteers;
  • Minimum 3-years of experience working in a fundraising role with proven success;
  • Superior organizational and administrative skills, detail-oriented and the ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment;
  • A self-starter able to work as part of a cohesive team;
  • An effective communicator with excellent written and oral communication skills;
  • The ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with other staff/colleagues at all levels of the organization;
  • Computer literacy; proficiency in MS Office Suite;
  • Successful candidates must provide a Criminal Record and Judicial Matters Check as a condition of employment.
    • NOTE: Personal transportation required (no public transit available to workplace)  The London & Middlesex Heritage Museum – Fanshawe Pioneer Village is located within the Fanshawe Conservation Area at 1424 Clarke Road, London Ontario.
