Position Overview:
The Manager of Finance is responsible for the day-to-day financial operations of Humane Society London & Middlesex, including accounting, payroll, accounts payable/receivable, and financial reporting. This role ensures accuracy, compliance, and timely processing of transactions while supporting budgeting, forecasting, and audit preparation. Working closely with the Executive Director and the Director of Operations, the Manager of Finance provides reliable financial information to guide decision-making and helps maintain the organization’s accountability and sustainability.
Key Role Responsibilities Include:
Financial Management & Compliance
Develop, implement, and maintain financial systems, policies, controls, and best practices to ensure accountability and compliance with GAAP and CRA requirements.

Ensure timely and accurate preparation of financial statements, reports, and filings (e.g., WSIB, HST, T3010).

Oversee payroll, benefits, remittances, and year-end filings.

Manage and maintain organizational record-keeping and digital financial security.

Ensure contracts, vendor agreements, and procurement activities are fiscally responsible and aligned with organizational goals.
Budgeting, Forecasting & Analysis

Lead the preparation of annual budgets, forecasts, and cash flow projections.

Support managers in monitoring and managing departmental budgets.

Conduct ongoing financial analysis to track performance, manage risk, and identify opportunities for cost savings and growth.

Provide financial insight and advice to leadership to support decision-making.
Accounting Operations

Oversee day-to-day financial operations including accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, deposits, and expense management.

Manage purchasing and oversee capital expenditures, equipment, fleet, and related agreements.

Ensure accurate, timely, and error-free processing of all transactions.
Audit, Banking & Stakeholder Relations

Liaise with auditors, banking partners, and external advisors, ensuring timely completion of audits and other financial obligations.

Prepare and provide information to support grant, donor, and funder reporting requirements.

Collaborate with the Fund Development team to align financial processes with fundraising and donor stewardship.

Qualifications:

Minimum of three (3) years of progressive experience in financial management.

Degree or diploma in Business, Finance, Non-Profit Management, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Strong knowledge of Canadian GAAP standards, accounting software, and payroll systems.

Advanced proficiency with Google Workspace and online financial applications.

Demonstrated reliability, flexibility, and ability to adapt to changing priorities.

Successful completion of a clear Criminal Background Check.
Compensation:
-
Full-time in-office, located in London, ON.
-
$60,000 – $80,000 annual salary, dependent on experience and skillset.

3 weeks paid vacation.
