Neighbourhood Worker - Summer Day Camp & Support Services

About Us:
Crouch Neighbourhood Resource Centre is a community-based organization dedicated to supporting children, youth, and families through inclusive and empowering programs. Our Summer Splash Day Camp provides a safe, fun, and engaging environment where kids can learn, play, and connect. We’re seeking a passionate and energetic Neighbourhood Worker to join our child and youth team this summer!

Position Summary:

The Neighbourhood Worker - Summer Splash Day Camp position will help deliver high-quality summer day camp programming for children aged 4 to 13. You will work as part of a dynamic team to plan and facilitate activities, ensure the safety and well-being of young campers, and foster a welcoming and inclusive day camp environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the delivery of recreational activities for children and youth.
  • Foster a supportive and engaging camp environment that promotes cooperation, inclusion, and fun.
  • Supervise and ensure the safety of participants during all camp activities and outings.
  • Build positive relationships with children, families, volunteers, and community members.
  • Foster a respectful, inclusive, and fun atmosphere by addressing conflicts or challenges promptly and positively.
  • Support the set-up, clean-up, and organization of program materials and spaces.
  • Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and daily team debriefs.
  • Help maintain accurate attendance and incident records as needed.
  • Follow all organizational policies, including those related to health and safety, child protection, and equity and inclusion.

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education (completed or in progress) in Child and Youth Care, Early Childhood Education, Recreation, or a related field is an asset.
  • Experience working with children in recreational, educational, or camp settings
  • Enthusiasm for working with diverse children and families
  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills
  • Reliable, flexible, and able to take initiative
  • CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain before start date)
  • Vulnerable Sector Check required prior to employment
  • Knowledge of the local community and lived experience in equity-denied neighbourhoods is considered an asset.
