Requirements – you must have:
- Meet the eligibility criteria of the funder including you are:
- between 15-30 years of age, at the start of the funded position;
- a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or someone to whom Refugee Status has been granted/conferred;
- Have a valid SIN
*International students, and those who are here in Canada on a work, youth, or visitor visa/permit are not eligible for the program.
- Have completed secondary school or are currently working toward an undergraduate degree, graduate degree or community college diploma in business and/or social services or equivalent and have one year of related experience in a business, social services, sales or educational setting;
- Reliable transportation to provide services in London and surrounding county areas;
- A well-defined sense of diplomacy, including conflict resolution and people management skills;
- Ability to maintain the strictest confidentiality;
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, family members, and the general public;
- High degree of resourcefulness, flexibility, and adaptability;
- Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing;
- High level of critical and logical thinking, analysis, and/or reasoning to identify underlying principles, reasons, or facts;
- Demonstrated excellence in organization and time management skills;
- A satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Screening Criminal Reference Check;
- Must be able to provide proof of two doses of COVID-19 vaccination or documentation for a medical exemption or reason related to protected grounds under the Human Rights Code as per Provincial Health Care regulations.
- Bilingual in French or other languages is an asset.
- First Aid and CPR certification is an asset and may be required, as applicable per program requirements.
The contract will be 16 weeks in length (35 hours per week with an hourly rate of $19.50). The start and end dates are between May and August 2026. The role is predominantly located in-person at Leads’ London office. Flexible working arrangements (including some remote work) may be considered.

Employment Specialist Assistants help interview clients to ascertain employment and educational history, transferable skills, career goals, interests, aptitudes and abilities of clients; assist each client to develop a service plan and implement this plan; facilitate the development and enhancement of life skills and pre-employment skills; assist clients to develop job readiness skills and job search strategies; collect labour market information for clients regarding job openings and skill requirements; teach clients how to write resumes and prepare for job interviews; counsel clients on work and career-related issues; facilitate pre-employment group sessions; prepare documentation, reports and statistics as required by service funders; seek out employment opportunities for clients through employer outreach and marketing; provide on and off site job coaching supports and post hire follow up. As well Employment Specialist Assistants advise employers on human resource issues, job accommodation matters and pre-select candidates for interviews.
