1 FTE Supervisor Position
Recognized throughout Southwestern Ontario as a leader in children’s (birth-14 years) mental health, Vanier Children’s Mental Wellness provides innovative treatment programs and services for children, experiencing emotional and behavioural challenges. As a registered charity and not-for-profit agency, Vanier has been in operation for over 54 years and is funded by the Ontario government. Vanier Children's Mental Wellness mission is to improve the lives of infants, children, and their families through the provision of mental health services based on clinical excellence, collaboration, partnerships, and system leadership. Appointed by the Ontario Government as “Lead Agency for Child/Youth Mental Health (CYMH) System Management” in London-Middlesex (2014), Vanier is also accountable for community-wide Child/Youth Mental Health System Planning.
Position Summary:
Reporting to the Clinical Manager, the Supervisor provides leadership and supervision to professionals working in interdisciplinary teams supporting community and intensive programs and services. Our compassionate and experienced staff provide high quality mental health treatment to children with complex social, emotional, and mental health needs using a trauma informed approach. The Supervisor will have a strong commitment to quality and will help build a responsive system for children and families requiring mental health treatment and supports. Active involvement in the agency’s overall functioning is expected to ensure that agency philosophy and policies are effectively implemented.
Education/Training/Experience:
- Community College Diploma in Child & Youth Work or a 3-year University degree in Social Science
- Five years of direct child counseling experience in mental health services
- One year of supervisory experience
- Proven interpersonal skills in verbal and written communication
- Proficient in Microsoft office (Word, Outlook, etc.)
- Experience with case management software
- Experience in leading teams and implementing human resource policies and practices in a unionized environment
- Experience in change management, and quality improvement
- Knowledge and experience in program planning, design, and evaluation (an asset)
- French-English proficiency or other languages (an asset)
- Specialized training in a variety of treatment modalities that are consistent and integrated within Vanier’s Service Delivery Framework (an asset)
- A valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle
- A Vulnerable Sector Check is required
Education:
- Community College Diploma in Child & Youth Work, or a 3-year University degree in Social Science
Experience:
- Child counselling: 5 years (required)
- Experience with strength based and relational focused child and family counseling modalities
- Previous experience in a children’s setting preferred
- Experience with employee engagement, team management, change management, and quality improvement
- Must be highly skilled in community collaboration and engagement
- Previous experience offering crisis support, intervention, and risk management
- Proven people skills in verbal and written communication; expertise in program planning, design, evaluation, organizing, directing, and marketing of services
Job Type: Full-time
