The Way We Think About Charity is Dead Wrong - Dan Pallotta TED Talk

Activist and fundraiser Dan Pallotta calls out the double standard that drives our broken relationship to charities. Too many nonprofits, he says, are rewarded for how little they spend -- not for what they get done. Instead of equating frugality with morality, he asks us to start rewarding charities for their big goals and big accomplishments (even if that comes with big expenses). In this bold talk, he says: Let's change the way we think about changing the world.

Standards Program (Imagine Canada)

To build excellence within Canada’s charities and nonprofits through common standards of practice and to strengthen confidence in the sector.

The goal of the Standards Program is to help Canadian charities and nonprofits improve their practices in five foundational areas: board governance, financial accountability & transparency, fundraising, staff management, and volunteer involvement.

Incorporated as a nonprofit from 2005 to 2013, the HR Council for the Nonprofit Sector (HR Council) took action on nonprofit labour force issues. As a catalyst, the HR Council sparked awareness and action on labour force issues. As a convenor, it brought together people, information and ideas in the spirit of collaborative action. As a research instigator it built knowledge and improved the sectors understanding of the nonprofit labour force.

London Community Foundation

London Community Foundation is a charitable organization dedicated to improving communities across London and Middlesex County. We do this by pooling the charitable gifts of donors to create endowment funds and using the investment income to make grants. London Community Foundation also provides leadership — monitoring this area's quality of life and convening people, ideas, and resources to help build stronger and more resilient communities.
