A Message from the Pillar Team

Over 20 years ago, Pillar was founded based on the idea that it takes all of us to come together to solve the social concerns of our times. Our work is broad, but each of our programs is unified with a central focus on finding ways to support those who are on their journeys to leaving their community better than they found it.

In the past five months, our organization has experienced significant disruption and change; through it all, the team hasn't stopped amplifying the good work happening in the sector. We remain committed to advancing transformative social change by connecting cross-sector networks and supporting and advocating for the nonprofit sector as the middle pillar that holds up the community.

As the Pillar Board of Directors takes action to help restore community trust, we, the Pillar team, continue the work expected from us with the supportive leadership of our Chief Executive Officer, Maureen Cassidy.

The staff team ensures that important work will continue with a sharper focus on our primary mission, community engagement, and consultation. We are committed to listening to you, learning from you, and working alongside you to advocate for systems changes in support of social recovery.

After a careful review of where we have been and what the network requires from us moving forward, we've identified some key areas to streamline and focus for 2023:

  • Deliver knowledge, learning, and educational experiences to the nonprofit impact sector in support of social recovery
  • Build capacity within the network through community engagement, collaboration, impact storytelling, public policy, advocacy and network support
  • Define and promote opportunities to strengthen sector knowledge of the role of Social Enterprise and Social Finance  in systems transformation
  • Cultivate pathways for financial longevity and change at Pillar
  • Live the story of our lessons learned in leadership and governance
These are, in large part, priorities that you've compelled us to consider. We will continue to share our progress on these priorities, seek out opportunities for us to collaborate with you and amplify the important work you do in your communities. Grateful for the ways you've taken care of us and each other.
