Leadership & Governance:
- Provide strong leadership to the Board of Directors, ensuring they are engaged and effective in their roles.
- Lead the Board in developing and implementing the organization’s strategic plan, policies, and goals.
- Ensure all Board activities are conducted in compliance with CCL's bylaws, legal requirements, and ethical standards.
Board & Committee Facilitation:
- Preside over all Board of Directors meetings, ensuring discussions are productive and respectful.
- Set the agenda for Board meetings in collaboration with the Executive Director and Board Secretary.
- Oversee the work of all Board committees, ensuring they are fulfilling their mandates and reporting back to the full Board.
Board Development & Recruitment:
- Lead the recruitment and orientation of new Board members, working to ensure the Board has the skills and diversity needed to govern effectively.
- Foster a positive and inclusive Board culture that encourages open communication and collaboration.
- Conduct annual performance reviews for the Board and individual directors.
Stakeholder Relations:
- Act as a primary spokesperson for the organization, representing CCL at key events and to external stakeholders.
- Serve as the main point of contact and support for the Executive Director, providing guidance and support as needed.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with community partners, donors, and other stakeholders.
Skills Preferred:
• Previous experience as a Board member, preferably in a leadership role, within a non-profit organization.
• Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to inspire and motivate a team of volunteers.
• Excellent communication and public speaking skills.
• Proven experience in strategic planning and governance.
• Deep understanding of non-profit operations, fundraising, and community relations.
• Strong commitment to the mission and values of Community Counselling London.
• Ability to dedicate the necessary time to Board meetings, committee work, and external representation.
