Thames Region Ecological Association (TREA) is a local, non-profit registered charity (1986). Our main goal is to educate our members and the local community to protect the environment, stay informed, and to take personal action. Our vision is a responsible and sustainable community. TREA projects support our strategic goals of increasing waste diversion, active transportation and reducing fossil fuel usage. Many of these projects have provided opportunities for residents to engage in more sustainable activities and have been in collaboration with other community groups and agencies to support community development and environmental issues. TREA encourages self-sufficiency through a strong interest in relocalization, climate change, conservation and local food, important topics to Londoners.
The Board’s responsibilities include:
Developing financial stability, funding resources, policy, meeting agendas/programs, directing the organization according to its by-laws
Planning strategically based on a clear understanding of community realities and trends to position and strengthen TREA’s role in the community
Supporting and supervising any staff, organizing events, representing and interpreting TREA to the public and its partners as ambassadors of TREA
- A commitment to justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion is an asset.
