TVCC (Thames Valley Children’s Centre) is seeking dedicated and passionate individuals to join its Board of Directors. TVCC works to support children and their families to achieve the highest possible quality of life. Through a variety of services and supports for children and youth with physical disabilities, communication disorders, developmental delays, and autism spectrum disorders, we aim to help our clients to be their best! As a member of the Board, a Director acts in a position of trust for the community and is responsible for the effective governance of the organization.

Responsibilities:

Board members provide oversight and direction to the work of TVCC including major decisions regarding the operations, budget, and organizational values and policies. They also:

•   Participate in annual and strategic planning for the organization

•   Participate in the recruitment of new Board members

•   Develop, amend and approve by-laws and governing policies

•   Annually review and approve the organization’s funding strategy

•   Support the vision, mission, and values of TVCC, and actively participate in promoting TVCC’s goals

Commitment:

Board members hold office for a term of three years with renewal options for further three-year terms. During this time Board members are to attend all monthly Board meetings. The meetings take place on the last Monday from October through June at 4:30 p.m. and run for approximately one and a half to two hours. Meetings are generally held with an option for in person attendance or online through video conferencing.

Board members also have the option to participate in one of the Board’s sub-committees.

Desired Qualifications:

Candidates who have experience with for-profit and not-for-profit organizations and who have capabilities in one or more of the following areas: legal, human resources, marketing, government relations, general management, Board and governance, and political acumen are welcome to apply.
